On Sunday, July 14th, members of the New England Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society gathered for a memorable outing on Lake Winnipesaukee. A professional photographer joined the group to capture stunning photos and drone footage, which will be shared soon. Until then, enjoy this video and photo gallery showcasing our journey from the perspective of the lead boat, "Workboat 1," a classic 1929 Chris-Craft 26' double upswept triple cockpit.
The day was meticulously planned by Whiskey, who charted our course. Departing from Wolfeboro just before 10 am on a sweltering day, we set our course towards Naswa in Laconia. After a refreshing cocktail and meal, we navigated back through the Weirs Channel, continuing towards Sallys Gut, a scenic pass between Meredith Neck and Stonedam Island. From there, our route took us to the iconic Swallow Boat House in Moultonborough, before we revved up and made our spirited return to Wolfeboro.
The weather couldn't have been more perfect, with temperatures nearing 90 degrees, abundant sunshine, and humidity that made our boat canopy a sanctuary during our hours on the lake.
Other notable boats in our fleet included:
- "Last Chance," a 1992 Hacker-Craft 26' triple cockpit.
- "Mutual Fun," a rare 1934 Chris-Craft 27' Custom, one of only 62 ever built.
- "Shamrock," a sleek 27' Hacker-Craft Sport Runabout.
- "All-a-Board," an impressive 30' Hacker-Craft Dolphin Triple Cockpit.
We were also joined for part of the journey by "Avery Paige," a charming 22' Lyman.
The day was a delightful experience, enjoying the company of fellow wooden boat enthusiasts on the serene waters of Lake Winnipesaukee. Here are photos.
