What a gem of a place. I don't know how I became aware of Edisto Island, but I'm glad we now know of it. Our visit to the island was December 3-5, 2021. The weather was delightful, dry, a bit cool, and sunny. The beaches are stunning!
Located between Charleston and Hilton Head Island, Edisto Island Beach is off of the beaten path, but worth the drive. We really love the low country. The live oaks with Spanish moss are amazing.
We stayed at Live Oaks campground because I did not know there was a beach campground (our next visit we will stay at the beach campground). The Live Oaks campground is a 15-minute walk to beach. And because wanted to take chairs, etc. we drove the condo over to the State Park and parked there for our beach time. From there we were able to walk to a restaurant for lunch.
Here are a few photos from our time there. I don't have any photos of the town; my phone was not charged because I didn't plug it in correctly...sigh.
Our site was 97. All of the sites at this campground are roomy and surrounded by greenery. State Parks are great for this. There are no sites with sewer hookup. There is a dump station which is on the main road (RT 174) which is shared by both State campgrounds.
Here is a video of the beach.
This is a low-key beach destination. Definitely on our list to return to.
