We celebrated Whiskey’s 60th birthday this month with a cozy little party in the Barn Lounge, surrounded by our local friends. It wasn’t a surprise — I needed his help getting the space ready! The barn is both a workspace and a gathering spot, so keeping it neat and guest-ready takes a bit of teamwork.
As the weather cools off, the Barn Lounge gets chilly, especially in the evenings. For his birthday, I decided to test out a propane heater to see if it could take the edge off. It worked so well that we immediately ordered a second one.
Good thing we did — the night of the party, it was 41 degrees and raining. Even so, the heaters kept everyone comfortable, and a few guests actually took off their jackets and scarves! Between the glow of the heaters, the laughter, and the clinking of glasses, the chill outside wasn't even noticed.
It turned out to be the perfect way to celebrate a milestone birthday — surrounded by good friends, good whiskey, and plenty of warmth (in more ways than one).
I put together a short video with clips from the evening and added a photo gallery to share easily with the friends who came — and to have a record for us to look back on later. That’s really why I keep making these blog posts: part memory-keeping, part practical record of what works and what doesn’t around here.

Happy Birthday Whiskey! Looks like another great barn party!
Happy birthday, Tom! As Clint Eastwood likes to say, "Don't let the old man in." Cheers!
