Homer has had reduced mobility over the past couple of months. His back legs have gotten weaker and he can't do long walks. So we got him wheels.
Just as we were heading out for a two-week RV trip Homer's back legs got very weak. He has Degenerative Myelopathy, a progressive autoimmune disease which occurs when the immune system attacks the myelin sheath of the spinal cord. So we scrambled to find wheels in time for departure. Since it was Thanksgiving week, there was no location or timing that would work to have an online order delivered.
Amazingly, after an online search that led to eBay we discovered that a top-notch seller is located in Amherst NH!! [Dog Wheelchair | Wheels for Dogs | Walkin' Wheels | Walkin' Pets (handicappedpets.com)] This was two-fold serendipity. Not only could I drive to pick it up before departure, but it was also the camo color and not pink!
Fortunately, Homer is the best dog ever; he took to the new wheels immediately. Dogs are amazing.
Check him out walking along in Spring Lake, NJ. Whiskey and Homer were able to take a long walk and Homer did his business without a problem.
So on this day of Thanksgiving 2021 we are thankful for Homer's new wheels so he can get out and about. We are thankful for family, friends, and our freedom.
Sending good vibes out to the world. Peace and love.
Update: Homer passed away November 15, 2022. We was the best dog ever!
